Stitching Opportunities, Strengthening Communities
What began as a response to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic has since grown into one of Women Of Will’s most inspiring community-led initiatives.
The Community Sewing Centre (CSC), led by WOW Community Leaders Kak Misha and Kak Suji, was established as a platform for women to generate income while supporting one another through uncertain times. Over the years, the centre has evolved from fulfilling internal WOW orders to securing contracts from corporate organisations, government agencies, and social impact partners.
Today, the CSC is more than just a sewing centre.
It is a space where women come together to learn, earn, and grow. Beyond producing garments and customised products, the centre serves as a training hub where women acquire tailoring and sewing skills that open new pathways towards financial independence.
Through the dedication of its leaders and the women involved, the Community Sewing Centre has become a powerful example of community-led development in action. It demonstrates how providing women with the right opportunities, skills, and support can create lasting economic opportunities while strengthening resilience within communities.
From a small initiative born during a period of uncertainty, the CSC continues to weave together livelihoods, confidence, and hope — one stitch at a time.
